Inspiring Bravery Through Play
Find quick answers to common questions about our mission and how you can help brighten a child’s hospital stay.
Why LEGO sets specifically?
We collect and distribute LEGO and other high quality building sets for two main reasons:
1) We do everything we do in honor of Jaxon and LEGO was his favorite toy.
2) LEGO sets are one of the most requested items according to Akron Children’s Hospital Foundation.
3) Personal experiences with Jaxon showed his family that LEGO is the perfect toy for ill and recovering kids in the hospital. First, building the set is a great therapeutic play as it can be done while sitting, but is mentally and physically engaging for the patient and family. Second, once the set is build it can be played with, rebuilt, or made into something new, meaning it can fill lots of time for long stays.
Who can donate building sets to the organization?
Anyone can donate new, unopened LEGO or similar building toys to help bring smiles to hospitalized kids.
